My quest continues to watch two horror films from every year I’ve been on the planet, the first winner of a Twitter poll was A Nightmare on Elm Street. The second winner I was surprised to see was Stephen King’s Firestarter turned into a film. I’d hadn’t really heard much of this and wasn’t expecting too much when I watched it, did it exceed my expectations? Continue reading to find out!

My Life in Horror 1984 – A Nightmare on Elm Street
So here we are at 1984 two horror films or at least films with a horror element for every year I’ve walked/crawled on the planet. The first winner of the 1984 poll was A Nightmare on Elm Street, this is a review but it also serves as a look back as I’m sure all horror fans already know about this film. Anyway if there’s anyone that hasn’t seen it are they really a horror fan?
The Belko Experiment(2017) Review
Seeing that this film was written by James Gunn I was excited about it for ages and now finally had the chance to watch it. Some very good films have been made in the fight/kill to survive genre but it is a bit of a worn out concept now. Surely the man who brought us Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither could come up with some unique idea though right?
My Life in Horror 1983 – Christine
Along with with Videodrome which you can read my review of by clicking HERE! the good people of Twitter also voted in Christine for me to watch and review. I hadn’t seen this for a long long time and although I like everyone else knew/knows the basic concept I had trouble recalling any of the film. My missus loves this film so she knew what to expect more than me when we settled down to give this classic a watch.
T2 Trainspotting (2017)
So it’s taken 20 years for a sequel to come out to the amazing Trainspotting, which is quite frankly one of the greatest British films of all time. Thing is this fits with the books as there’s a big time gap between Trainspotting and the sequel book. I read a bit about this film and it seems there were mainly two types of opinions people who thought, what is the point in this film? And people who loved the nostalgia the film threw at them. Then there’s the people who thought it was decent in it’s own right but not a touch on the original. So I guess you better read to find out which camp I fall into!
My Life in Horror 1983 – Videodrome
So Videodrome along with Christine won the polls put to the good people of Twitter, I was happy with the choices one film Christine which I had not seen for about 20 years and which I will review tomorrow. The second winner was Videodrome a film I have never seen, I’ve heard a lot of good things about this so was keen to sit down and get it watched.
Wonder Woman (2017) Review
DC Comics has needed a hit since the Batman trilogy finished, Batman Vs Superman was a big disappointment for a lot of people with it’s massively slow pace and a lot of strange story decisions as well as plot holes. I quite enjoyed Suicide Squad although it’s dialogue was poor at times with it’s forced quips and smart arse comments. Superman, well those films have just sucked big time. With Justice League approaching and Marvel films continuing to produce quality films Wonder Woman needs to be a success, early critic reviews and screening opinions seem to agree it’s great.
My Life in Horror 1982 Part Two – Swamp Thing
So the good people of Twitter voted in Swamp Thing as the second winner of the 1982 poll. A comic book movie that’s not really that much of a horror, in fact lets be honest it lacks everything a horror film needs but that doesn’t mean it’s not a fun film. I had never seen it before and in today’s world of massive CGI SFX in comic films it was fun to watch something from 1982 that wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be! You can check out the other winning film from 1982 by clicking HERE!
