I suppose the best way to start this blog/website off is to explain exactly what it’s all about. I’ve always loved the horror genre of films, ever since I was around 12 years old and got too scared to watch Hellraiser past the opening credits as the music creeped me out too much.
I’ve recently stopped playing a couple of computer games that pretty much ruled all my spare time. So I needed something to replace those hours and hours during the week when my missus is at work. I’ve decided I should write brief reviews of all the horror films I watch being as I watch at least one a week, there may also be the odd comic book film, TV show or video game review as well. Now I wouldn’t expect anything groundbreaking far from it, I’m not the sort of person who looks for hidden meaning in a film or analysis’s it to such a degree that I talk about how they should have used a different sort of camera for the film.
I love all kinds of horror and gore films from the classic monsters that scared me half to death as a kid Nightmare on Elm Street, Hellraiser, Candyman, Childs Play, the IT etc to old Vincent Price movies to comedy horror/gorefests like Shaun of the Dead, Braindead, Bad Taste, Toxic Avenger to the more main stream Scream, Cabin in the Woods, I Know What You Did Last Summer. Basically I enjoy watching it all.
So expect my review to cover the basic plot, how gory the films are, what the best deaths are and finally I’ll rate all the films out of 100 using a complicated equation!
I am writing to tell you about the Horror Bloggers Guild (HBG). The HBG is a horror blogger community. My vision is to develop an awesome group of the top horror bloggers on the internet in order to make it easy for the internet to find us, create a space for collaboration and do awesome stuff.
Blogging is hard. Bloggers can get discouraged and isolated. Bloggers in general rarely make it past 6 months. I’ve had a hell of a lot of fun and probably would not have continued blogging if I did not meet some other cool bloggers that helped me on my way. New things are on the horizon and I’m game for any idea that comes along.
