47 Meters Down (2017) Review

A while ago I reviewed The Shallows (to read my review click HERE) it really makes you think about the massive lack of Shark films outside of the usual SyFy rubbish we get. The Shallows was a really good film for me, tense and well acted with a massive shark. So now we see another bikini clad woman or in this case women trapped somewhere by sharks, question is can it match The Shallows?

Arachnophobia (1990) Review

arachnophobia-1990-mss-bluraycover-2

Spiders and relatively normal sized ones aren’t really monsters but enough people are scared of them to make this a monster movie. I think spiders, heights and small spaces are the most popular phobias. Strange thing is most people don’t know why they are scared of spiders and most even know that they shouldn’t be and that fear is what makes this film so damn good.

Deep Blue Sea (1999) Review

dbs

The mid 90’s to early 2000’s seemed to bring forth quite a few giant monster attack films, sharks, sea beasts, snakes, crocodiles, spiders lots of either giant real animals or made up big monsters wanted to attack people. Whilst Deep Rising had slipped my mind until someone mentioned it on Twitter, Deep Blue Sea I knew about and being as I reviewed Jaws, The Shallows and even Sharknado it seemed right to re-watch and review this one for my Monster Movie Month.

Splinter (2008) Review

hr_splinter_poster_saw

I’d seen this movie around quite a bit when looking through various streaming services’ horror sections but never really fancied watching it. Then with this month dedicated to monster movies I did a bit of searching for the generic “Greatest Monster Movies Ever” articles. When I searched for modern ones Splinter was often listed quite high, one person even comparing it to The Thing. With that type of compliment I thought why not give it a watch.

Deep Rising (1998) Review

Continuing the monster movie theme for this month I decided to watch Deep Rising, someone had mentioned this on Twitter when I asked for some recommendations for monster movies. Strangely or not if you know me this film had dropped completely from my mind until someone mentioned it. As soon as I looked it up I remembered having it on VHS and watching it quite a few times in my late teens, so the question is does it hold up or not?

Tremors (1990) Review

No monster movie month would be complete without a review/look back at Tremors, as a kid this was one of the coolest films I ever watched and it still remains that way today over 25 years later. I’d be very surprised if there’s anyone who hasn’t seen this and better still Kevin Bacon is being linked to a new Tremors TV show after all these years. Hopefully it will make up for the lackluster sequels that it’s spawned, anyway on to the film at hand…..

Stung (2015) Review

hqdefault

I must admit as well as a slight fetish for found footage movies (even though they usually disappoint) I also love a creature feature, any mutated animal killing people, weresheep anything like that and I’m on it. I was browsing horror films and came across this one, the cover looks good (don’t they all!) so I thought I’d give it a go.

“Some of the CGI was pretty bad, that’s not to say there wasn’t any good effects as the practical ones were mostly decent.”
