I was looking for something to watch so decided to browse the films on Sky cinema. I saw this one and it sounded familiar then I remembered seeing Dexter Fletcher talking about it on some TV show. I’m always up for watching a British horror comedy and his brief involvement along with a couple of other cast members made me decide to give this one a go.

Doghouse (2009) and Severance (2006) Reviews
A couple of Sundays ago for some unknown reason the film Doghouse popped into my head, I hadn’t see it for a while so decided to give it a watch. After posting on Twitter what I was watching someone suggested Severance another British horror starring Danny Dyer. So I settled down for an afternoon of Danny Dyer being hunted by zombies and trained militia, although he plays pretty much the same sort of character in all his films I still find him fun to watch and he’s in starred a few decent films as well.
My Life In Horror 1988 – Beetlejuice
Once again the good people of Twitter voted to pick the films from 1988 that I should watch and review. The winners were Beetlejuice and Pumpkinhead both pretty different but both reasonably good if I remember rightly about Pumpkinhead anyway. I’ll try not to be bias when doing this review/look back but I should inform you that I am wearing a Beetlejuice t-shirt as I write this up.
Shaun of the Dead (2004) Review
Along with Deathgasm and What We Do in the Shadows the first film we watched at a movie night was Shaun of the Dead, it’s a safe choice that non horror fans can watch and enjoy due to the comedy involved. If you liked Spaced or Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in general then that just tops it all off. It’s the first of the Cornetto trilogy and in my opinion probably the best one but just how good is it?
What We Do In The Shadows (2014) Review
During a recent movie night we all agreed that the films would be Shaun of the Dead and Deathgasm as everyone bar me and the missus had not seen Deathgasm. After watching it someone recommended What we do in the Shadows, it looked decent on the trailer so what better than a bit of humour to finish what had turned into a horror comedy night. I’d heard of this film but not seen it before and I love a mockumentary style movie especially if it’s funny and horror based.
Tremors (1990) Review
No monster movie month would be complete without a review/look back at Tremors, as a kid this was one of the coolest films I ever watched and it still remains that way today over 25 years later. I’d be very surprised if there’s anyone who hasn’t seen this and better still Kevin Bacon is being linked to a new Tremors TV show after all these years. Hopefully it will make up for the lackluster sequels that it’s spawned, anyway on to the film at hand…..
Turbo Kid (2015) Review
I must admit when I had Netflix I just browsed past this film thinking it was some sort of kids thing, however after I actually stopped being an idiot and looked up what it was about I decided to give it watch and I didn’t regret it……..
Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (2015) Review
When asking for comedy horror recommendations on Twitter I got loads of people mentioning two films Cooties, which I watched the other day and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. Being as I watched one recommendation and enjoyed it why wouldn’t I listen to my Twitter horror followers and put this one on.
“I’d highly recommend anyone into comedy horror give this a watch”
Cooties (2014) Review
After watching a couple of comedy horrors I took to Twitter to ask for some recommendations with most people mentioning this or Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. I decided to give this a watch first and will be watching the other one over the weekend at some point!
“go give it a watch the comedy elements are really well done and are the main focus of the film.”
Dog Soldiers (2002) Review
I’ve wanted to re-watch this film for a while but always end up choosing another one instead, but after including this in a Twitter vote against Z Nation Season One, Feast One and Two and Walking Dead Volume 1 it came out on top. So on a nice reasonably sunny Saturday afternoon I stayed inside to watch werewolves killing people.
“One death stands out as being how you’d want to go out if you were about to be eaten by a werewolf, I’d rank it was one of my favourite death scenes of all time.”
