Stag (2016) Review

After watching and reviewing The Ritual (Click HERE for review) I took to Twitter to see what everyone else thought of it, as usual there were varied opinions but most people found it at least a decent watch. This is where I was asked if I’d ever seen Stag a BBC mini series, I vaguely remember seeing it advertised but gave it no attention. After looking it up and saw that it had Reece Shearsmith, James Cosmo and Tim Key in it I was sold. I tracked down a copy and got ready to binge, not sure if that’s the right word for three episodes but never mind, I watched all of them back to back and here’s my thoughts.

Veronica (2017) Review

Even if you’re not into horror movies and don’t really keep an eye on what’s new and happening in the horror film world, you may well have seen something about Veronica anyway. It’s taken the internet by storm since arriving on Netflix, it was released in Spain in August last year but since dropping on Netflix it’s been dubbed The Scariest Movie Of All Time. Before viewing I would be very cautious in falling for something that’s been hyped this much but I do always want to see just how scary things dubbed as scary really are.

Herschell Gordon Lewis’s BloodMania Review

The good part of doing these reviews and having a pretty decent following on Twitter is that I get sent screeners, mainly they’re for no budget indie films some of which can turn out to be a great watch and some not so much. However I was genuinely excited when I got the chance to watch BloodMania from the Godfather of Gore Herschell Gordon Lewis. I checked the trailer out and the over the top gore aspect really appealed to me.

Annabelle Creation (2017) Review

I missed this one at the cinemas because as usual any places local to me had it showing at silly times during the week, sometimes it’s as if they want horror movies to fail in the cinemas. I always like a creepy demon doll story and this one answered the question I wanted to know after watching Annabelle, where did this bloody doll come from?

Doghouse (2009) and Severance (2006) Reviews

A couple of Sundays ago for some unknown reason the film Doghouse popped into my head, I hadn’t see it for a while so decided to give it a watch. After posting on Twitter what I was watching someone suggested Severance another British horror starring Danny Dyer. So I settled down for an afternoon of Danny Dyer being hunted by zombies and trained militia, although he plays pretty much the same sort of character in all his films I still find him fun to watch and he’s in starred a few decent films as well.

Happy Death Day (2017) Review

The other day I was looking for something to watch and Mrs AcidBurn suggested two films Happy Death Day or American Satan. I watched the American Satan trailer and decided I wanted something more horror based, so Happy Death Day it was. Now it might be PG-13 but that can easily work for horror films if it’s done well, if not you can end up with an unemployable MTV style teen film. So which is Happy Death Day?

The Ritual(2017) Review

I saw the trailer for The Ritual last year and I’ve wanted to watch it ever since. I tried to go to the cinema but it had awkward times like 10pm on a week day, that might not sound too bad but when I have to get up at 5am for work the following day it was never going to happen. This film arrived on Netflix last Friday but just like the UK fuck it’s own football fans by banning 3 o’clock kick offs being shown on TV, Netflix released this on every Netflix apart from the UK, typical. Still I managed to get a copy and sat down one night to see if it lived up to the high praise it’s been getting.

Leatherface (2017) Review

Leatherface and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre rightfully take their place among the slasher movies that started the genre. These films are also probably right up there with the most famous horror films of all time. The last film before this one was pretty damn good, so I had no hesitation in watching this one as well. Obviously by the name you can guess it tells the origin story of Leatherface, how did he become the beast that we all love chainsawing people in the face.

47 Meters Down (2017) Review

A while ago I reviewed The Shallows (to read my review click HERE) it really makes you think about the massive lack of Shark films outside of the usual SyFy rubbish we get. The Shallows was a really good film for me, tense and well acted with a massive shark. So now we see another bikini clad woman or in this case women trapped somewhere by sharks, question is can it match The Shallows?

Thir13en Ghosts (2001) Review

I’ve always enjoyed this movie and I feel it’s often overlooked, however after posting about it on Twitter the common response was positive. Seems I’m not the only one who found it entertaining if a little silly in places. Anyway here’s my thoughts on Thirteen Ghosts.
